Building Envelope Restoration with New Hardie Board Cladding
GC West had the recent opportunity to complete a stunning exterior Hardie cement board siding installation at the Finale apartment complex, located at 3551 & 3651 Foster Avenue, Vancouver, BC.
This project used exterior siding panels to reinforce the building’s aesthetic warmth and offer durable protection, combining high-end craftsmanship with high-performance materials. The newly-installed exterior siding proved to give the Finale complex a refreshed, high-end, natural façade that enhances its curb appeal.

Scope of Work
The scope of the work involved supplying and installing best-quality siding panels to the building’s exterior walls, enhancing both appearance and weather performance. The cladding siding was carefully selected for durability, suitability against Vancouver’s coastal climate, and visual harmony with the surroundings. All surfaces were prepped by our team to ensure proper framing, substrate readiness, and moisture protection prior to installation of the siding.
The project also involved incorporating flashing details, furring strips, and ventilation gaps to promote longevity and reduce risk of moisture damage. Proper installation and protective treatments for this exterior wall cladding project mean an improved resistance to Vancouver’s moisture-heavy seasons, which helps reduce long-term maintenance costs.
Challenges Overcome
Our staff installed scaffolding and tarps to protect against the heavy autumn rains during this project. Extra care was taken surrounding the substrate preparation and drainage detailing to prevent water buildup behind the siding. Matching tones and grain to produce a consistent faсade across different sections of the building required precise selection and stain/finish matching as well. Installation around tricky architectural features (windows, corners, roof overhangs) demanded custom cuts, precise sealing, and attention to ensuring clean transitions. All work was planned and executed to minimize noise, dust, and disruption for apartment residents, maintaining site safety and cleanup as top priorities.
